CLASSROOM COOKING
Potato Sizzle

This is excellent with the traditional kiwi barbecue!

You will need:
  • large baking or roasting potatoes - allow one per person
  • oil for brushing
  • fresh herbs or seasonings

What to do:
  • Do not peel the potatoes.
  • Parcook in either the oven or by boiling - they need to be softened enough to slice but still firm.
  • Cut into wedges.
  • Barbecue until golden and crunchy, brush lightly with oil as they are cooking. The time taken will depend on the intensity of the barbecue heat.
  • Sprinkle with fresh herbs. Alternatively use some a seasoning such as Tuscan or Mediterranean seasoning.
  • Enjoy with your friends!

TEACHER TIPS:
  • This is brilliant to do at lunchtime on a bbq at school - a very healthy alternative to hot chips
and you will find the children will simply adore them.
  • This is another recipe you can encourage them to teach mum and dad at home!
