Potatoes in sport : powered by potatoes...
Potatoes are an excellent carbohydrate food to improve
your performance!

Whatever sports you are in to - if you want to do well potatoes are a great help!
What petrol is to your car, food is to your body. Without good quality fuel,
just like a car, you will not perform your best! All sports people, either recreational
or at world class athlete level, require a diet that is high in carbohydrates.
The main function of carbohydrates is energy for the body. For a person who
is exercising, about 60% of their daily energy (calories) should be from carbohydrates.
The healthiest are the starches in natural foods - so potatoes are perfect!
It is important that you regularly eat enough carbohydrates to maintain the
body's glycogen stores. Glycogen is broken down into glucose to give your muscles
their energy. Glycogen comes also most exclusively from carbohydrates, such
as potatoes. The body's carbohydrate reserves become depleted and muscle fatigue
sets in if not enough carbohydrates are eaten regularly. If you have eaten a
lot of carbohydrates, glycogen levels will be high and it will be longer before
you get tired.
