COOKING THE BEST...
Chips and wedges
The best homemade wedges and chips are made from floury textured potatoes - you will find these types of potatoes labelled as baking or roasting at the supermarket.
To find which varieties are best for chips and wedges go to 'varieties and how they cook'
• Preheat the oven to 200°C.
• Scrub the potatoes, do not peel.
• Cut each potato into about 8 wedges.
• Spray with oil or sprinkle with a little oil and so the potatoes are well coated.
• Bake, uncovered, at 200°C for 20 - 30 minutes or until golden brown and crunchy.
• Turn once during cooking.
Healthy tips…
• The chunkier the chip or wedge the healthier because less oil will be absorbed through the surface area.
• Leaving the skin on gives you more nutrients, especially fibre.
